Our Irish Sea Moss is hand harvested from the Atlantic Ocean of the west coast of County Clare in Ireland.

Sustainable harvesting methods means it is only gathered when in season to ensure the highest nutrient content and most favorable flavor profile.

This species is most certainly the KING of sea moss and has the most benefits for lung health, clearing mucous, balancing blood sugar and improving digestion as it is a pre-biotic and drastically improves gut flora.

Although it does require a more thorough cleaning compared to the St. Lucia sea moss, the health benefits make it absolutely worth it!

How To Make Irish Moss Gel

If you're more accustomed to making our St. Lucia Sea Moss, you'll notice this variety of sea moss requires a little more cleaning and a lot less soaking.

Make Irish Moss Gel:
- Soak for 10-15 minutes
- Strain & fill bowl with water again and continue to let sea moss soak while you clean each strand.
- Under running water, clean each strand to ensure it is free of sand or anything that could have gotten tangled into the moss during growth. Set cleaned moss aside in a new bowl.
- Once thoroughly cleaned (takes about 10 minutes) strain and do one more rinse in the strainer.
- Blend with clean water and we suggest adding the juice of 1 lime to help neutralize smell and taste.

Some prefer a thick gel, which is what our recipe makes.
If you prefer a more thin gel which is easier to stir into coffee/tea, simply add more water when blending. When you make it yourself, you get to make it exactly how you like it!

How to Enjoy

Adding Sea Moss Gel to your everyday meals & drinks is easy and effortless.

Simply add a serving to:
-Smoothies
-Soups & Casseroles (once it is being served- if added when boiling it will diminish the health benefits.)
- Coffee/Tea
- Oatmeal, Yogurt, Applesauce
Or just eat it off the spoon!

How to Flavor:

You can also blend it with Organic Elderberry Syrup (instead of water) to add an immune boost and a delicious taste that makes it easy to take right off the spoon!

Add a cup of fresh or frozen (be sure it's thawed) fruit when blending to add delicious taste and added nutritional value.

and add a bit of honey if you like it even more sweet!

*Be sure to note that adding Elderberry Syrup or fruit to your Sea Moss Gel does make it more prone to spoilage. We suggest consuming it within 2-3 weeks. You can certainly freeze it for up to 6 months but once thawed, it will need to be enjoyed within 2-3 weeks.

It is recommeded that adults consume 1-2 Tablespoons a day & children consume 1-2 teaspoons.
Each bag contains approx 60 adult servings and 180 children servings.

Irish Moss vs St. Lucia Moss

There are quite a few differences between the two forms of sea moss. Appearance, growing patterns, harvesting methods and even nutritional properties!

Chondrus Crispus:
- Irish Sea Moss
- Grows in cold water, on rocks, in Atlantic Ocean
- Has a growing & harvesting season which limits availability

- Thick, flat branches that are shorter in length and also rehydrates quickly

- Has increased nutritional density and targeted at breaking up mucous, supporting lung health, balancing digestion and increasing blood circulation.
- Requires more cleaning in the preparation process and much less time soaking.

Genus Gracilaria:

- St. Lucia Sea Moss
- Grows in warm water in Carribean Sea
- Grows year round and is easily pool grown unethically

- Thin branches, stringy and longer in length and takes longer to soak and rehydrate.
- Targets skin, hair & nail health, improves eye and brain health & is ideal for gentle detoxing and supporting healthy elimination and detox pathways (specifically lymphatic system.)
- Easiest to prepare and the Gold variety is truly tasteless and odorless

St. Lucia Moss (Genus Gracilaria) is most commonly mislabeled and claimed to be "Irish Moss." Typically it is because the sellers are not educated enough about their products and want to market it as Irish Moss because it is more commonly identified and quite honestly, in higher demand and shorter supply.

This is why it is ESSENTIAL to know what you're buying and careful to truly trust the people both harvesting and providing you the sea moss you're consuming.
